I.T In The Office

Have you ever thought about how much we hate computers when they don’t seem to do what we ask them to do? Cue cursing and banging of the mouse on the desk, only to notice that the email address on that ever-important email is missing a letter. However frustrating this may seem, using a pc to do your work can also be rewarding. More and more employers now look for specific skills, and a lot of them are willing to help you along the way, some of them happy to sponsor employees who choose to get more clued up on anything I.T.

WORD IS, EXCEL COULD BE YOUR POWERPOINT IF YOU HAVE GOT THE RIGHT OUTLOOK

The office world and their granny live and breathe Microsoft Office, it’s a known fact. It has to be recognised that almost anything can be done with the tools invented by Mr Bill Gates. One of its trickiest and scariest applications by far has to be Microsoft Excel: a wonder tool if used skillfully, a mountain to climb if confidence is a bit wobbly, and yet more and more employers require it at an advanced level.

TRAIN FOR FREE

I.T. training is never the easiest of things, but it does sound better when it’s free. Head over to http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/training: this is Microsoft’s official website for training and how-to-do about all its products, with easy to follow lessons from the basics up on all Office related, including the dreaded Excel.

OR PAY, BUT IT’S WORTH IT

If you get hooked on it and want to do more, consider this: every college in the UK offers all sorts of I.T. related courses, including the popular ECDL, the European Computer Driver Licence, recognised universally as proof you know your way around a pc. Alternatively, try home study with the Home Learning College (www.homelearningcollege.com) or with Skills Train (www.skillstrainuk.com): these last two give you the freedom to study at your leisure and from the comfort of your front room. Happy learning!
